I am an artist from southern California working with weaving and photography. After a bit of a career in education, I am using 2020 as the year that inspired me to venture back into creating. Weaving has always been a muse of mine throughout the years. Being home these past few months have been such a blessing in that I started to design and weave again. I am so fulfilled feeling the yarn on my fingers and seeing the interwoven project emerge. It is moving to see the piece emerge from nothing to an interwoven image.
Now I am doing some good work using this skill. Recently I have been using cut photographs as a weft working with overshot patterns. Images are given new movement and perspective with an interwoven pattern. Focusing on communities, I am taking proceeds to support fiber arts in local children's centers. Every piece sold is another loom in the hands of children! It is also a reminder for me of the human race being from one interwoven cloth. Cut and reassembled we each are essential for the whole picture to come together.
