One eyed dog

I am a medically retired U.S. Marine who lost vision in one eye to shrapnel from an improperly used explosive device at the School of Infantry. This injury has plagued me with chronic migraines and memory issues as a result of the concussion. These injuries have proved to be a major life obstacle in education and employment through the years. The idea of using my damaged eye to paint came to me when one of my sons was trying to grasp what it would be like to only be able to see with one eye. This original and first painting was done in order to satisfy his curiosity. I captured a picture of a neighborhood lamp post using an Ipad then set to work trying to make the canvass resemble what I see with my damaged eye. The result has turned out to be a pretty accurate depiction of my vision. This result of this method could be considered littoral impressionism. I really hope to do more of these projects but am currently completely preoccupied by just making end meet.
