The artist Market Maker’s name is Stirling McAuliffe. He grew up in New Jersey and is currently living, working, and creating in Brooklyn, New York. He began painting seriously in high school where he excelled and attended a vocational visual arts program, which has an influence on how he creates his work today. He enjoys living in the city and appreciates the experience and inspiration found at every turn, from each individual, to the beautiful parks, outstanding architecture both old and new, and of course the art works of others. He developed a passion for the financial markets, while working on the New York Mercantile Exchange, finding market dynamics fascinating, and the people who achieve great success in them extraordinary. As an artist he feels painting market scenarios appropriate because there is so much emotion behind them, a constant push and pull, sound logic at times, and completely chaotic at others. He tries to capture these feelings in his work or at the very least make them visually appealing.
In his past life he was a sponsored surfer. The profile picture is of him at 19, living on the North Shore of Hawaii, charging waves like these on a regular basis, while living out of a tent. He has a true appreciation for the ocean and the environment. In his free time, he enjoys taking his dogs to the beach or woods, reading, skateboarding, and he still loves to surf and shares that experience with friends and family whenever possible.
