I believe that no one comes into this world without a gift. Like many, I was blessed with the gift of creativity; head spinning, all consuming creativity. I love color, pattern and texture. I love combining these elements in different ways.
As a young woman, my dream was to paint and work in fashion design, but when introduced to the art of interior design, my direction changed. For twenty-five years, I worked as a free-lance interior designer. Owning a design business was a creative way to earn an income and I was blessed to meet many wonderful people along the way. I attended continuing education classes at Rhode Island School of Design but am primarily self-taught. After twenty-five years in the field, I felt it was time for a change. So, with my focus now on other creative areas, I closed shop and took out my well rested art supplies.
As a person of deep faith, much of my art is spiritually inspired. My love for all things, “God” called me to the mission of creating unique one-of-a-kind and limited edition themed rosaries. My husband and I work together in this calling and our rosaries are showcased and sold on our website; a site which I created. I had no background in web design but I knew that I wanted our site to be an experience rather than a store, and it was very important to me that it be visually prayerful and not lose the integrity of the Rosary. The result is a thirteen year old site which includes fine art, prayer, and information on many things religious. Our site is www.Gardenias4Lina.com.
In addition to my art and creating rosaries, I design and create one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry, handbags and wearable art.
In 2010 I wrote and published a book on prayer, titled, The Sacred Strand, Praying the rosary with saints and artists. I am a freelance writer and contributing editor to Mystic Post, a large online Catholic publication. I guess you could say that I am a busy lady. Yes, I take on too much, but the problem is that I love everything I do and can’t find it in my heart to give anything up.
Art is my first love. That will not change. My work is mainly faith inspired with the hope that it may offer a message of Universal love.
My favorite mediums include, but are not limited to, acrylic paint, marker, colored pencil, textiles and polymer clay.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
May each day bring you abundant blessings.
