MJ Hoehn Art

An emerging artist, MJ Hoehn is a self-taught painter. Her works are a fusion of acrylics, watercolor, gouache, metallics and gel mediums - “Splashing Colors”- on canvas and paper. Painting to her is like dancing – she tries to capture the joy of movement, and light. Her works are primarily in soft pastel colors mixed with metallics and iridescents, with a splash of color. They have been described as having an “ethereal” or “magical” quality.
She worked for many years in creative environments – advertising, marketing, set design. Her works feature the beautiful lights, colors and reflections along the Hudson River Waterfront and her favorite spots in New York City. She lived for many years near Central Park and Sutton Place in New York, and along the Hudson Waterfront in Jersey City. She became obsessed with the beauty of the architecture and water scenes and started taking pictures of the world around her. Most of her paintings are from these photographs.
She is currently working on a series of sunrises and sunsets from around the world – from New York and New Jersey to Australia to Africa to Croatia to Puerto Rico. Contact: MJHnyc200@gmail.com
