Laurie S Auth was born in Washington, DC. She graduated from the
University of Virginia with majors in literature and art history. During her
fourth year there she concentrated in studio art and knew that she wanted to
make art for the rest of her life.
She studied painting with Ray Yoshida at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago earning an MFA degree. She has been a full-time artist for 40 years.
At the beginning of her career, she created two-dimensional art of abstract landscapes and figurative works, painting in a range of mediums -- oil, acrylic, gouache, ink, pencil, and collage. Later, she created three-dimensional mixed-media sculpture and relief.
During the years 2007-2019, while living and working in New Haven, CT, she created many bird portraits inspired by the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History.
Today, she lives and works in Nashville, TN. She exhibits her work nationally and has an online presence through her website ( https://www.LSAuth.com ) and the social media platforms of Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/LSAuthArt ) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/lsauth ).
