Description
Black and white photograph of the staircase in the Rookery Light Court on LaSalle Street in Chicago Illinois.
My son wants to be an architect...he's had this dream since he was only three, and hasn't let up on it for the past 7 years, so for summer vacation this year, he talked us into going to Chicago to see all of the Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings. Frank Lloyd Wright is his hero...I try to gloss over all the questionable personality traits and focus on the beauty of his work.
The Rookery is one of the first buildings built after the Great Fire and is one of the oldest standing skyscrapers in Chicago. The original architect was John Root, and he is one of the VERY FEW architects that Wright respected. When Wright was hired to remodel the Rookery, he made sure that Root's original designs were kept prominent throughout the building.
