Jodi Dareal was born in Brooklyn in 1989. Art was always a mayor component in her life. From a young age she began drawing wildlife pictures and as the years progressed her curiosity grew. In High school her content changed. While attending Urban Academy Lab, she focused on her Trinidadian heritage. Her paintings featured bright colors, symbols and tradition folk tales from Trinidad and Tobago. Jodi graduated from high school in 2008 and moved on to Penn State Altoona. While there she developed new styles using various shading techniques. Jodi's content at this time was still life and the human body. She then carried everything she learned over to SUNY Buffalo where she completed her college education. She experimented with oil painting and abstract concepts. She also continued her study of the human body. After college she moved to Staten Island and began selling her art.
Jodi Dareal is an artist with many of many talents. She's apart of an Artist Collective called Back of the Bus. She raps, sings, paints and draws. A Jack of all trades. Through many years of artistic study, her specialties became realistic portraits using both pencil and paint mediums. She also occasional does abstract work as well as painting pieces inspired by famous artist of the past. Her love of Hip Hop also dictates her choice in content. Jodi loves painting/ drawing the artists that inspire her in Hip Hop and in Life. Her colors are always eye catching, vibrant and unique.
