As a child my mom and dad were huge advocates of the local arts center, where I had the opportunity to dabble in lots of art forms and to admire the works of my own parents. As an elementary school teacher who often integrated art into my lessons, my motto was: I’m not an artist, but I try my hardest! My students always encouraged me and insisted my art was worthy (and in turn I encouraged THEIR growth mindsets in art as well). And yes, the motto had to change: I AM an artist and I try my hardest. We all grow together! The turning point, however, was a couple of years ago when my son went to Europe. My “surprise” from Italy was a fancy set of 8 watercolor paints and a little brush. It was magic in my hands! I loved the way the brush would drink varying amounts of water to create depth and an array of colors. Inspired by YouTube tutorials, Pinterest, and my favorite artist (other than my parents) Jim McIntosh, I aspired to create vibrant and whimsical pieces that reflect joyful and energy! I hope you will share my love for my paintings. Remember I am not a trained professional artist, but I AM an artist, and I try my hardest. And if you place a piece of my art in your home, please know that you have placed a piece of my heART in your home, and that YOU can be an artist too. P.S. Oh, and thanks to my precious oldest daughter for finding this venue and for encouraging me to display my art!
