Jason Martinez, an upcoming artist from Lincolnton, North Carolina, got his inspirations and artistic roots from the jungles of Peru. It all started at the age of 9, when Jason visited his uncle Emmanuel; an artist in Lima, Peru. Jason learned the fundamentals of painting and color mixing through Emmanuel's explanations of his various depictions of the jungles of Peru. Jason explains, "It made me develop a passion for art and gave me a desire to learn the different art forms along with the stories that came with each painting." Other artistic inspirations for Jason are: art books, scenery landscapes, and character designs and costuming (including Japanese anime, superheroes, and Sci-Fi). Jason said he draws even more motivation from viewing the works of other professional artists, whether it's a popular artist or just someone like himself. Coming from his education in Fine Arts and his first exhibition experience at Gaston College, Jason's artistic flair has a mixture of both traditional and abstract feel, with moods ranging from bursts of bright colors to serious and foreboding dark tones. His preferred mediums are acrylic on canvas and computer graphics. Jason's close knit family, especially his mother Maria, is a huge source of help and support in Jason achieving his artistic dreams, where ever his creativity and imagination take him.
