I have had an on again, off again love affair with art since college. Mostly painting. My father started painting in his mid 70's and in so doing, inspired me to pick it up again in my 50's. I work exclusively with oil paint on canvas and birch board.
My paintings range from pure abstract, which are generally organic free form paintings, to landscape abstracts. I do not pursue a specific goal with my abstracts. There is no message, preaching, or direction. I am not painting to externally influence the viewer but to aid them in drawing out something from the image. Be that a memory of an event, a feeling, or sense of wonder. The abstracts should mean something different for each person who views it based on their life and memories, and it should compliment the area it is hung. I try to create a visually deep and complimentary image with great depth through layers, while focusing on the composition which is so important to each piece.
