I retired from a 33 year nursing career to begin a full time career in art. I imagined I would be oil painting as my primary style of art until I took a class in printmaking. It incorporated many exciting and fun ways to make an image that incorporated my love for painting, drawing and design . I started with relief prints and am now moving on to experimenting with white line printing, collographs , dry point and reduction prints. I may be working longer hours making prints than I had worked as a nurse but I rarely feel overworked. I am creating challenges for myself and trying to learn some marketing skills to start my new career. The process of creating images and choosing how to execute those images into a print is very satisfying and exciting. The carving , that can take days or weeks, is meditative. My subject matter represents my love of nature and animals and a big dose of imagination. My homes in Michigan and Florida are on forests, rivers and a bird sanctuary . They provide a huge collection of images to use in my artwork. My prints are mostly humorous and not "realistic " but can also show natural beauty in our precious world. My husband, family and friends are supportive and inspirational. My subject matter include family , love and beauty in many forms. I especially appreciate their constructive criticism and support.
