When I paint, I recreate the world around me, as I perceive it. Whether surrounded by the people of my town, Shepherdstown WV, or the pastoral scenes of the surrounding foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am influenced by my immediate surroundings. I use my memories of these places and turn them into sketches. Eventually the sketches develop into in-depth ideas and detailed images.
I use acrylic paint on stretched canvas and begin by outlining the largest images. Then fill them in like the images in a coloring book. Lastly, I add in the foreground and background. The size of my work ranges from medium to large canvases.
My background in the arts includes a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Shepherd University. I am influenced by the works of DaVinci, Van Gogh, and Picasso. You may often references to these artists in my work.
My work continues to evolve and develop over time. It is my hope that my art work speaks to you the viewer. Whatever message you take away, it is the right one because I’ve made an impact.
