I have been making artwork all my life. Starting in high school, I enjoyed graphite drawing, India ink and scratchboard. Working full time and raising 3 daughters didn't leave me much time for artwork, but in my 40s I took up watercolours and after retirement (about 10 years ago) I started working in pastels. During the Pandemic I decided to try out scratchboard again (after 50 years!). Now I tend to alternate between the various mediums as my mood dictates. My father was a professional photographer and my husband, a retired veterinarian, is also an excellent photographer whose photos I use as reference material for my paintings. I am mostly self-taught, but have studied and followed various artists over the years for inspiration. I enjoy the vibrancy that pastel brings to the landscape, and find that every season has its own beauty. Living in Canada, where we have the ever-changing seasons for inspiration, there is never a time of year when I don't find a landscape which calls to me. I hope you enjoy looking at my landscapes and other artwork. You can also see my work on Instagram.com under Deborahm.rose.
