Creative Yarn Artwww.ArtPal.com/CreativeYarnArt
I have a BA with a major in Fine Art from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. I began as an oil painter and just recently decided to work in 3 dimensions. I found the textures, color combinations and the versatility of fiber stimulating and wonderful change from painting. (Although I still do paint.)
Nature is usually my inspiration for most of my work, but some creations are simply about line, color and texture. Dramatic lighting can also enhance the wall hangings giving them much more depth than photos can capture.
I enjoy the creative process and never know exactly what a finished piece will look like when I begin. The original elements are chosen. Some are eliminated, new items added. The hangings dictate to me what is needed as they progress. There is usually an item that will speak to me in a certain way that will be the inspiration of each creation. It can be a yarn color, an interesting branch, a photo, nature, or just an abstract compilation of found items. There is no limit on where inspiration may manifest itself to me.That is the best part of the creative process, responding to the stimuli around you and creating something unique.
Thank you for reading and viewing my work. :)
