Poetry has been a passion of mine since early childhood, and was my focus of study in college for my BA. My work has been published in several journals and won awards; I also teach poetry to for local middle and high-schoolers. Photography is a hobby I was introduced to (and quickly fell in love with) in my 'tween' years by my father with his 1970 Topcon 35mm. Dad gave me his old Topcon when I went to college, and it continues to serve me well, although most often now I pick up my Canon SX40 (or iPhone). I am a simple "backyard poet", finding the grand in the everyday, and reveling in the natural and historical beauty right outside my own door. I live minutes from the beach in beautiful coastal Georgia, which never ceases to provide amazing ideas for poems and photography. Everywhere I look, I see a poem and/or a photo, and so I created Coastal Poetography as a way to share both of my passions.
