When asked as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always answered "An Artist!". As I look back over the years, I see how my career pathway took me through a few detours, but here I am back to my first love of being an Artist. As a child and throughout high school and college I enjoyed painting in acrylics. Over the past ten years, I've enjoyed oil painting with other local artists and have even moved into working with watercolors and mixed media. The medium I choose is determined by what I think will work best for my subject.
You'll be able to recognize my paintings by my use of vivid and contrasting colors that accentuate my subjects. I often say that its important to "look good", explaining what I mean is, you have to look very closely at your subject. Instead of seeing black in shadows, you'll find purples, blues and greens, and in the light areas you'll find warm colors like yellows and reds. I dare to be bold as I represent the colors I see.
About my detour... For the past 30 years, I've ran my own advertising business a named "Techni-Graphics" representing businesses of all types. Ex: I am the designer of Health Science Magazine (see: healthscience.org.) and have enjoyed working creative plans that include the right mixed media to fit the client's budget. I am so thankful my business experience provided design, photography, computer and business skills that are a real plus as I devote more time to being an artist.
