My name is Bernadette, and I started drawing last fall (2016) after completing a free, one-week course in manifesting. Drawing wasn't one of the things I deliberately was trying to manifest, but I had just started a bullet journal the weekend before the course started, and I was wishing like nobody's business that I could draw. Well, by the end of the week, I had manifested eight job offers and I was drawing like I'd been doing it for years. Kinda strange, I'd say, and I lived it. When I'm not drawing, I'm a personal assistant, a massage therapist, a house cleaner, and a casino games dealer. Yes, I really do all those things, and I still have one caregiving client that I tend to every now and then. All of it is a lot of fun. Writing is another one of my gifts. That's what I went to college for, and I worked in publishing for a number of years before the burnout hit. I'd like to start a blog sometime soon. And I guess I'd like to mention that I'm 55 years old, and my life is just now getting started all over again. My goal in creating my art is to take the observer back to a particular place in his or her youth when all colors were brilliantly radiant and every little thing felt fresh and new -- a place of innocent excitement. As well, I understand that a journey into one of my pictures might be as close as some get to any such sweet memory. For all, I pray my work does reality justice. I can think of nothing worse than empty words on a page, except perhaps empty lines and meaningless colors.
