I started this artistic journey out of the need for more color in my life. My husband and I moved to South Korea in the summer of 2015, and we had very bare walls with nothing to fill the space with. Having lived in South Korea before and developed a love for hanji, traditional Korean paper, I decided to start covering canvases with it and got to the point where I could do more artful work. The art I do is meaningful to me on several levels. First, I love the magic that a bit of wall art can work on a room. It's what got me doing this in the first place. Second, I find much of traditional Korean culture and art beautiful and fascinating, so I gain satisfaction from creating works that celebrate this beauty. Finally, having lived and worked in South Korea for over 4 years now, I see my art as a means of interacting with and reflecting upon my time here. Surroundings strike you differently in a new country, and my work has been a way to process this. I hope you enjoy my work!
