Born originally in South Wales (UK) in the early 1960s, I moved to the glorious Chew Valley to the south of Bristol when I was just six months old, and there I have stayed ever since. Surrounded by countryside, yet just 20 minutes away from both Bristol and Bath, the Chew Valley has the best of all possible worlds.
Painting and drawing have been hobbies all of my life, but following a life-changing accident at work, my art has become so much more important to me. I take my inspiration from the landscapes around me and from a life-long passion for animals. I love the Arts & Crafts movement and much of my work in stained glass is inspired by Louis Tiffany.
I am self-taught for the most part.
I continue to draw and paint with watercolours, but I find my work becoming increasingly tactile in nature.
My love of the Arts & Crafts period has lead to working in stained glass, producing panels, pictures and light shades.
I also work in micro mosaics using a 2mm cube of recycled coloured plastic that is made from waste bio-plastics coming from the production of bio-ethanol.. I love the fact that I am able to produce beautiful works from waste. These works draw from the traditions of mosaic and pietra dura, but in a contemporary way.
