This gallery is for my brother Allen Cantrell and dedicated to our father, Allen. Both passed away and way too close together. Cancer took my father and Allen went in his sleep. My sister Susan and my mother Carole are still with me. Love you both!
Allen was the most talented, intelligent, humorous, generous, loving person a brother could have hoped for and my best friend. It seems impossible, as it does everyday, that I will miss him more tomorrow than I did today. He left us far too soon and the sun hasn't shone as bright since.
I don't know how to do this so forgive me if this changes every time you visit. I hope this gallery is the beginning making Allen well known and respected in the art world which he would have loved but never pursued.
He was obviously very talented at a young age and never minded me or my sister peering over his shoulder to watch. We would often sneak into his room in the middle of the night growing up knowing he would be at his drawing table. He never turned us away, he always let us in, stop what he was working on and patiently try and teach us. His love of art gained him a college scholarship. His talent came from our Mother, and the first picture I will show is a tiger painted by her, the rest drawn by Allen. Everyone that saw his art asked him why he didn't do it professionally, he would just smile and say...If I had to do it for a living I wouldn't enjoy it anymore. We were planning to do something like this while he was alive, now I feel I need to somehow follow through.
Thank you for taking time to visit Allen's Artwork. I will be updating it as often as possible so please visit again.
