The Otsu-Gata Sensha (大津ガスセンサ, Second Model Tank). Also known as Renault Otsu-Gata (Type B) or Renault Otsu. was in service with the Japanese Army in mandchuria from 1931. From the 21 NC-27 purchased in 1927 or 1928 only 10 arrived. They had the old Renault FT lenghtened body coupled with a brand new suspension system (which proved fragile in operations) displaying twelve wheels and three large vertical volute springs, and their 62 HP gasoline Renault engine was connected by an american Cletrac transmission. This engine was changed by the Japanese to a Mitsubishi 75hp gasoline model, reaching 20 kph. For armament, they had originally a cast Girod turret armed with a 37 mm SA18 Puteaux and coaxial Hotchkiss machine gun, changed upon arrival by a Type 11 Sogekiho Infantry Gun, a lenghtened Puteaux that served as infantry antitank gun, coupled with a Type 3 6.5 mm Machine Gun, and the frontal armor was upgraded to 30 mm (1.18 in).
