This is a drawing of a female dancer from the South Sumateran culture of Palembang in Indonesia. This is a typical dance pose. The dance itself is called 'Gending Sriwijaya' - originated from Sriwijaya or Srivijaya or Siwichai, which was an old kingdom in around the 7th century in the Southeast Asian area that covers the areas of the current West Indonesia and the Malay peninsula. The dancer wears a typical headdress embelished with flowers and golden trinkets. The dance is still performed today in weddings and other official ceremonies.
