This painting, like many others of mine, has been inspired by a picture taken while doing a jogging on Mount St-Bruno, near Monteal, Canada. What catches my attention the most when I am trying to find a subject, is the light making its way through. All my paintings, photography or live models, are focused on light emerging from a distant source. This emerging light creates high contrast and enables the possibility of playing with a wide spectrum of colors and tones.
A few years back, I gave myself the challenge to create a new way of painting leaves. Instead of using dots or monochrome spots, I developed this shape and patterns of gradient scrollwork. This technic that I created is unique. The orientation of the scrollwork gives dynamic to the painting, and a sensation of wind blowing.
