Original acrylic painting (Sold) on a 24 x 48 x 1 canvas. Softer, paint thinned background with a heavier tribal feel paint overlapping, this painting is inspired by the Mandrill and is titled Tribal Mandrill. This is the first painting of this Collection and was the initial inspiration for it. I consider this piece as I do all in the Collection, to be a bit impressionism/expressionism with modernism mixed in. Arguably it sounds in a couple other categories also. This Collection is ongoing with additional completion dates throughout the rest of 2015. I will not duplicate any animal in this collection or reproduce another similar. The painting seems to work in formal and informal settings with the right decorative mix. I hand glazed this painting as I do all of my work over a two week period and with all of the paintings. An extra thick frame is painted and frames are unnecessary. Indeed, the raw unframed look lends itself here.
