To do this painting I draw in my subject, then masking tape it in, then do what they call a dirty pour. It is a very messy process, and I use a lot of paint. Always excited to see how it comes out, and to see how I might want to manipulate the pour. I then take off the tape and paint in the image. This painting was inspired by Peggy's Cove lighthouse. As I was thinking of different iconic images, I thought of how the lighthouse was such an iconic image of Atlantic Canada, and how they have become redundant, and in the future may disappear on the landscape. Being Peggy's Cove is a famous lighthouse and use to lived 20 minutes from it, and painted it many times, it was only fitting to do it in my iconic image pours.
