This is a mixed media work on stretched canvas. This one is all about the emotions and the relationship between the tree and the moon.
In the vast loneliness of the tree's experience, it looks to the moon for connection, for context, and for hope. The tree reminds us that as we move into the cold bleakness of winter, the promise of warmth and light has to be held inside. If we focus too much of ourselves in the dark night sky, we risk getting lost in the things that have been and are no longer, drifting off into memory and the draw of the comfort of it. The longer we dwell in the heavens, the harder it is to return to the commitment to life, to growth and to the now of our future. While our roots remain strong, we emerge again from the darkness into spring, until such time as we surrender ourselves to the pull of the moon, the stars, the heavens and forget ourselves join them.
