Veldwezelt (Limburg: Wezent), is a church village in and a borough of the municipality of Lanaken, located in the Belgian province of Limburg. It has 3288 inhabitants (2019). [1] One third of them have foreign, mainly Dutch nationality.
The name "Wezelt" probably comes from the Germanic "Wisithja" which is a collective name for "meadows". Veldwezelt was first mentioned under the name 'Wiosello' in 1157.
Veldwezelt is located where the Roman Imperial road from Nijmegen to Tongeren once ran.
