This is the first in a series I completed representing an indigenous woman with a Tree of Life in the background. This painting was done in a monochromatic color scheme. The Tree of Life is usually represented in ceramic sculptures in Mexico but I wanted to represent it in my painting. There are so many variations of this image found throughout the country.
