I live in South Wales and there are many old abandoned miner's and quarrymen's cottages tucked away in the mountains, in fact whole villages can be found. Some have become unstable because of the damage done to the ground while these industries were at their peak. I find them fascinating and it makes my imagination run wild. Much of my work is inspired by Carl Ryan of Black Planet Photography who takes atmospheric photographs of these old buildings and the wild landscape surrounding them. I have painted this picture in watercolour.
