This piece of art was originally painted on a miniature canvas, 2"x2", with acrylic paints. With close attention to details, Nicci Lee wanted to create a macroshot type of painting that emphasized the most intriguing part of a dragon - the eye! Nicci Lee utilized various shades of teal and black to create the textured look of the scales surrounding the eye. Then she began her interpretation of what the actual eye of a dragon would look like, with the cat-like iris, variegated pupil colors, and light spots to depict the shape and realism of the dragon's eye. Knowing that there are an infinite versions of dragons throughout the world, and in all of the colors of the rainbow, Nicci Lee then took her painting and made a digital form of it that incorporated many of these different color variations - thus allowing the viewer to choose a form that closely represents his or her favorite type of dragon!
