This is the Piazza Del Campo in Siena. I painted the original oil on location (en plein air). I like to call it the best people watching place on the planet. I love the bustling of the people wandering about. The art students sketching the buildings, the pigeons getting some crumbs for lunch and of course hanging out in the cafe's with a cappuccino. I haven't seen the Palio in person yet but I can imagine what the craziness must be like.
