Painted in Tuscany in the mysterious city of Florence or Firenze, if you are Italian. I had intended to paint the gate because of the glowing wall behind it but as I looked around to find the best composition I realized that the pot with it's single strand of ivy, seeking purchase in the early spring light was the most interesting thing. It evoked hope and the striving for life as the new year arrived.
