This was a piece I painted to accompany as essay I wrote for the New Earth Almanac, entitled "Shameless Times", which was based on a song I wrote in 2010 about the BP Oil spill otherwise known as DeepWater Horizon. This environmental disaster has continued to haunt our lives, coastlines, and food supply. At the time it was so big, so shocking, so tragic that it was taken me many years to process. In doing so, I needed to work through it using several different mediums. However, what I aspired to convey is that there is still hope, rays of sunshine and fish that have survived. Shameless Times was the cover story for the April 2022 issue of New Earth Almanac.
