A colorful and playful abstract. This piece borderlines on printmaking and painting. I used a new technique when creating this acrylic collograph painting. I knew what kind of colors I would like to invite in and perform the magical collaboration of color play. Wanting to be inventive and explore a new experience with color and techniques, I cut up a plastic grocery bag into different sized sheets. After laying down some background colors on the canvas, I then painted each piece of plastic with different colors I mixed on my palette. I had to work quickly so the paint wouldn't dry. It became a spontaneous play on color, one by one with the rubbings, creating new textures as well. One hue would offset or inspire another color. I would position the painted plastic on or next to a specific color and use a roller or my hand to rub the wet paint onto the surface. The artwork had a very fresh look to it, young bright colors emerged with a feeling of optimism.
