This modern abstract work is a throwback to mid-century modern painting. The limited color palette and use of negative space create a strong, compelling composition and the use of broad brush strokes and layers of paint over paint give the work depth. In searching for a title the starkness and palette reminded me of being in Switzerland during one November, along with it's landscape and moodiness of the changing weather.
Additionally, the work has areas of texture with areas of thick paint as well as underpainting. It is sophisticated yet gritty. You can see and feel the process used by the artist to make this work. It has a real feel and not trendy or disposable. It will be a conversation piece and be the feature in the room.
