This painting encapsulates a feeling of true horror and disappointment. This was painted during a difficult moment for Melissa. With acrylic on a stretched canvas, she used her actual face as her main brush.

"I had just sent an email to my University that I could no longer continue since I was unable to pay tuition. It was my dream school. I was heartbroken. In the moment, I had this strange, horrific feeling, and at the same time, an idea. I figured I had to capture this feeling before it morphed or subsided. This is a very honest painting, and is still difficult for me to look at."
