Water impressions is a combination of a water-colour painting, on black paper and an underwater photograph.

The painting is abstract and is an impression of the ocean, during a night dive. Painting on black watercolour paper (360 gram) requires special, metallic watercolour paint. The paint used for the Water Impressions, was the Talens van Gogh metallic colours. This paint together with the black paper, gives it a specific glow, which in turn creates a nice feeling of depth.

The underwater photograph was made using the underwater camera; Sea & Sea Motor Marine 35 MX-10. The black and white negative was scanned and superimposed over the watercolour painting. The opacity was lowered to reveal parts of the painting. The photograph was positioned in such a way, that some of the shapes connect onto the shapes of the painting.

The result was then printed onto Canson® Infinity Edition Etching Rag paper, a 100% cotton Fine Art paper.
