Campfire Ballad, 1959, 24 x 30 inches, oil on canvas board; Subject: Lucy Malarky, playing her guitar and singing by a campfire in the Little Blitzen Little Blitzen River during girls camp; Sold to Veltie's nephew Evan and wife Dorothy Pruitt for $815 on July 26, 1978; Veltie and Ina began to operate camps in the Little Blitzen Gorge for boys and girls in the summers, and hunting trips in the fall, returning to the warmer weather of the McKenzie River at Leaburg in the winter and spring. They were aided in this operation by various friends and relatives, chiefly by their son Leroy Pruitt. After Evan Pruitt died, his wife moved to Arizona. The painting is still in her possession.
