The photo that inspired this is stunning. Pristine white irises against a black background. As a watercolorist, there was no way I could improve on the sheer black and white beauty of that, nor did I want to. I was inspired to put my own interpretation on it by painting the colors of white. The colors the mind sees when the eye sees white. This is what I ended up with.

The story gets even better. The original plants have been in the same family for many decades and have made several moves successfully. Not only are they beautiful, they are strong.
