This 2020 painting, titled “reaching” is intended to convey warmth and hope. “Reaching” is such a many-layered word, especially in these difficult pandemic times. We reach to connect, we reach to survive, we reach for higher moral ground, we reach across race and difference to build more equitable communities, and we reach to be our best selves.
This mosaic-like painting is paper and acrylic on stretched canvas. The papers are adhered to an acrylic “grout” then gazed and varnished for enhancement and durability. It measures 18” by 24” by 7/8”. The painting wraps around the edges of the canvas thus no frame is needed.
