A lot was going in the back of my mind while painting this, right from the history to religion, spiritualism and what not! The only reason I painted this is because I have a great respect for the work done by Siddharth Gautama for the class of society which was in a very miserable condition either due to poverty or the harassment by upper classes which was rich, educated or powerful. Gautam Buddha helped the previous find the meaning of life, peace of mind, solutions to the endless sufferings, ways to lead life in a positive manner and what not which had become the most essential thing for them at that period. The one who was born to be a King, abandoned every luxury to find the meaning of life and went on preaching religion to people for almost 45 years! He stated that the origin of all our SUFFERINGS lies in our DESIRES and the only way to get away from this is to achieve NIRVANA.
