One of the most popular tropical fruit in the world is a pineapple. Though I had painted this fruit in a semi-realistic image on a polycarbonate sheet early this year, this time I had done it on a 2mm plastic mat. I must say comparing from the former to the latter artwork, it is quite the opposite as in from a rough surface to a smooth one and it has taken a long time to keep the oil paint fully dry this time. One other thing is the strokes---which is obviously from natural fluidity to short, geometric and curvy ones. While painting the criss-crossing lines diagonally (to form a square figures) on the body of the fruit, can not help myself remembering myself as young lad admiring the way these pineapples harvested, cleaned and cut. Particularly how fast it was being prepared by cutting the prickly sharp skin, slicing the diagonal lines in a spiral manner, gouging out the "eyes" of the fruit and finally slicing it vertically like a fan!
