Where cometh the beauty of a Scottish lass? The courage of a Highland soldier? Or the soaring imaginative verses and vistas of Scotland’s poets and painters? The saintly vision of her preachers and missionaries? I remembered this picture in my soul, inspired by a friend, and was so moved that I could not help but seek to create. I cherish deep impressions of Scotland’s misty and majestic isles on the Hebridean Sea. So, I set out with a composition in mind to blend the height of the endless sky and magical mountains, with the breathtaking expanse of a sapphire sea framed by rugged low lands. The cottage is added as I merged three or four photographs to achieve the painting. This Fresco creation uses oil and bits of pastel. I trust it will be a cherished feature in your home; and maybe even help you dream of the Hebridean Sea, or a lovely lass, or the pipes of a Scottish regiment marching like gallant giants from Britain’s noble North.
