Traveling throughout the west there are many places that I discover and absolutely a must with Shoshone Falls is one of them. A subject that American painter Thomas Moran painted many times, Shoshone Falls always inspires me. This waterfall is dammed up the river most of the time but on this occasion, they let the waters out. I happen to be driving to Yellowstone after a massive flood in the west, they had notified residents that they will be releasing the water to its former glory and since I was close I had to go there to see this the Niagara of the west show its grandeur. It did not disappoint. I quickly took a canvas out and painted on location En Plein Air and this was the result.
