This piece was very rewarding for me to create because it includes several items that I had purchased with trepidation. The arm-like elements on both sides of the central portion of the work, and the semicircular wooden element near the top, were all part of an oak (I believe) dining room table, When I bought that table part, I said to myself "how in the world am I ever going to use this in my art?"

The loon came from a pair of bookends that were rather expensive, and I experienced both doubt and guilt about how or whether I could use them in a finished art piece. I experienced those same emotions when I disassembled one of those bookends.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with the result, so much so that this piece is now on my artist business card.
