This painting means a lot to me in more ways than one.
I wanted to paint something in honor of Harambe the great gorilla who passed away at the Cincinnati Zoo a couple years back (personally, I find it no laughing matter..). I not only had my hands tied up, but I also suffered a serious case of artistic malaise in which I was feeling discouraged and even considered giving up art for good. But working on this, I felt as if a part of me that had been missing for so long had been found again, and I remembered that nothing I loved doing can ever be a waste of time..
