This piece is in honor of a real american hero . Lieutenant Colonel William F. Mullen, the pilot of this A4 releasing ordinance, in 1962 over Laos in Vietnam. He was one of four pilots assigned to disrupt anti aircraft positions .
During this mission his A4 was hit and went down, the rest of his fighter group aborted the mission due to heavy flack, but Lieutenant Mullen without concern for himself , completed his assignment. He was listed as MIA in 1962 and was never recovered until recently when his plane was discovered.
After exhausting efforts by his family he was finally brought home , over 50 years later, and given the Flying Cross and a full military funeral. In tribute to all of missing pilots in this conflict , all of the soldiers and missing personal that gave their lives and should never be forgotten.
