This is a side view of the central altar, Bima, also: Bimah, from the Greek word Βημα, the central place in the synagogue from where it is read from the Torah during worship. Unfortunately, I couldn't step on stage because it's not allowed, but I think that you can see all that splendor and glow even like this.

The synagogue in Subotica is one of the largest in the world. It is the second largest in Europe and fifth in the world. In addition, it is certainly one of the most beautiful.
It was built in 1902 in Art Nouveau style by the project of Budapest architects Marcell Komor and Dezso Jakab, associate architect Ödön Lechner, the creator of the Hungarian Secession. Most of the Jews of Subotica lost their lives in the Holocaust, so that today, among other things, it is a memory of them.
