In the lower part of the artwork a few boats painted in cool shades of blue are floating peacefully on the still water parked by the shore. The central section, which is painted in much warmer colors: pink, red, or orange, features a small bridge and a palace in the middle, and the Ca' Rossa (the Red House) from Rio del Malcanton (the Channel of the Bad Corner) on the right side. The top area of the painting somehow contrasts with the rest of the painting (rendered in a more dynamical manner) showing only a light blue sky without much turbulence, which brings some equilibrium to the whole scene.
